History shows us that artists since time began have used all
means within their reach to express their own personal aesthetic creation
..... it is not only natural, but almost a compulsion that leads to using
new techniques and materials to do so; in this respect, Dapacu is an artist
of our time.
Dapacu was born in 1967. A self-taught artist,
he devoted himself to creating a real "Art of Our Time", by searching
for new perceptions and sensations derived from two-dimensional paintings,
in an art highly personal and different from all existing "isms"
(cubism, surrealism, expressionism ...). Ever since his early years he has
had a strong aptitude for expressing himself through drawings and to look
for intricate plays of dimensionality, even before discovering the works
of Escher which were a revelation to him, but he was determined not just
"to play" or "confuse" with the dimensions, but to find
the clue to obtaining beauty three-dimensionally in a flat two-dimensional
surface, a challenge almost impossible to reach in the beginning.
At the age of 13, Dapacu began painting with acrylics
and oils. At 18, an art broker offered him an exclusive exhibition of his
works which took place at the "Galeria Genova" in Mexico City.
Starting from this exhibition, he decided to devote his life to art, and
ever since he has presented his works and murals which can be found and
appreciated in the U.S. , Mexico and Europe
With time he extended his use of many different
mediums, from acrylic to oils, mixed mediums and, specifically, by using
fluorescent paints that glow under ultraviolet or black light, to produce
"psychedelic states" so to speak, or distortions in perception,
creating hallucinations or sensations which are truly original and new.
His paintings, probably the most complicated and
elaborate art you will ever see, have been described by himself as "multi-dimensional"
and represent a true innovation in the art of painting. Unique and absolutely
impossible to counterfeit, it brings faces, images and places from real
to surreal 3 dimension "escapes", interacting with the viewer
...... the amount of images are endless, in a truly multi-dimensional puzzle,
where the same images shape new images and these again form new ones. Their
complexity means his production is low.
Today Dapacu lives in Austin, Texas, and works
in the U.S.A , Mexico and Europe producing murals and paintings. As a result
of his being a self-taught artist , his techniques, style and design break
all existing rules, creating a totally new way of expression in paintings,
which involves a different way of looking at them.
